Construction Going Well For "Blue Lakes Marketplace"
TWIN FALLS, ID (KMVT-TV) - A Twin Falls building that's remained vacant for a long time is undergoing a major facelift and getting new tenants.
The brand new "Blue Lakes Marketplace" is right now under construction at Five Points on Addison Avenue.
We first told you about the project back in December and since then, things are moving along.
It's another day of business for the Owner of Tuxedos Now, Don Chandler.
Although his shop has been around for years, recently, they moved to a new location at the "Blue Lakes Marketplace."
Since the change, business has really picked up.
"It's a wonderful location. We get lots of traffic. We're expanding. We've gone from a 1,100 sq ft store to 4,000 sq ft and we're excited about business growing,” said Don Chandler, Owner, Tuxedos Now.
That optimism is why Utah Developer Kevin Mortensen thinks this spot will attract new businesses.
Every week, Mortensen meets with potential buyers to show off the place.
"Lots of interests and calls. More here than any other project and now with the store fronts going in people are getting a vision and it will be better,” said Kevin Mortensen, Developer.
They expect to finish all the construction by December.
Right now, four out of 12 stores are full which means there are places for people to move in.
"On the very corner, there will be a new business that's never been in Twin called "Jimmy John's." They're a sandwich and restaurant chain. It just adds a lot of excitement. There's a lot of traffic and it's easy to get in and out of this project,” said Mortensen.
Renovating the building isn't cheap, costing millions of dollars.
But, for Mortensen, it's worth the investment.
And, for stores currently in the new building like Chandler that investment is already paying off.
