Man Sentenced in Auger Falls Fire
The man responsible for last years Auger Falls fire received his sentence.
Donald Garibaldi took a plea deal in the case. he pleaded to one count of property damage by throwing a lighted substance.
Garibaldi threw a used cigarette out that started the blaze. It burned more than 450 acres of land. There was no malicious intent. Garibaldi did call 911 and reported the fire.
Garibaldi will serve 8 days community service. A total of 90 days jail time was given but suspended. He will have to pay about $500 in fines and court costs.
Restitution was submitted to the court for the damages for $55,000
Garibaldi’s employers had insurance that may help pay for the costs.
