Incident In Wendell Sends Officer To The Hospital

According to Wendell City Police -- officers were dispatched at around eleven last night to Main Avenue and Hailey Street to what started as a fight - then progressed into two vehicles chasing each other.
Law enforcement says there were numerous people involved - including some who were known as being gang members.
Chris McRoberts says, "my investigation so far after main and Hailey, the vehicles separated, my officer made a traffic stop on the chased vehicle in the 200 block of 6th avenue east."
At the traffic stop police say they dealt with individuals in three vehicles --were met with resistance and then one male assaulted and attempted to disarm an officer.
McRoberts says, "When they were dealing with the individuals, it resulted in Rickey Jimenez, 48 years of age, being taken into custody for battery on an officer."
44 year old Shellie Jimenez is charged with resisting as well as obstructing and delay of a peace officer.
48 year old Ricky Jimenez was arrested for battery of the officer.
21 year old Miguel Cruz is charged with aggravated battery from the initial call and a juvenile was also taken custody.
More charges could come after the investigation is complete.
Various agencies assisted in the incident.
McRoberts says, "We had assistance from Jerome county Jerome city, Gooding County, Gooding city and isp."
The officer was taken to Gooding County memorial hospital where he was treated and released.
