Over at Wendell High School this afternoon – some of the Wendell firefighters and Farmer's National Bank employees competed against each other in a bed racing.
the firefighters built their own bed and Jim Benson built the bed for the bank employees. "it's gets everybody out for the old fashioned fourth of July where the community comes out, have a good time, doesn't cost you a lot of money." the descendants of Wendell’s founder came to celebrate the centennial. Wendel Kuhn Jr. says "I came for the 75th in 1984 and there were only 5 people. So we thought we'd better come back for centennial and express the pride we have in our family and mostly in the community for the great people that live here." All money from the races goes into the American Legion's youth account. And hopes are to make the bed racing an annual event and possibly include it as part of a future Dairy Days celebration.
