Hagerman Police Department Gets Help

By B. Cooper

The Hagerman Christian center is known for doing service projects for the community.

Since receiving the 'ok' to do the Hagerman police department renovation project in June, volunteers put in around 1500 hours and donated about $50,000 dollars in labor towards the project.
Their message is 'don't go to church', but 'be the church' as they strive to help their community.

Pastor of the Hagerman Christian Center Isaac Tellez says "That's what motivates us to serve the Lord, serve the people and make this town look better."

Prior to the renovation officials say there was ceiling damage, no ventilation and things were out of date among other issues.
But the future of the facility looks promising.

Hagerman Police Chief Loren Miller says "It's going to be right what we need. We'll be able to do interviews and stuff without having to go to other agencies we're going to be more self–sufficient."

In the meantime, the church is paying for the temporary rent for the department at an office across the street. The church pastor says they will hopefully complete the project in the next couple of weeks because they're short on time and funds.
