Brent Rasmussen originally faced charges of drug trafficking marijuana and possession of a controlled substance, those charges were later changed.
The drug trafficking charge was amended to possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and the possession of a controlled substance was dropped by the prosecutor in a plea deal that Rasmussen took and pled guilty.
Rasmussen was arrested by Twin Fall Police in early summer of 2009.
Police claim to have found 144 marijuana plants weighing a total of 45 pounds at Rasmussen’s home on Washington Street South.
Police said it was one of the largest they had found.
Both the prosecution and Rasmussen’s lawyer said he had no prior record.
At his sentencing judge Randy Stoker placed Rasmussen on probation but his underlying sentenced is a total of 5 years, 3 years of which are fixed.
Rasmussen will have to spend three years on supervised probation. Do 100 hours of community service pay court cost, restitution and a fine.
