On Friday singers from all around southern Idaho came to compete in Mexican American idol.
The el sombrero restaurant in Jerome hosted the competition. 19 singers took the stage to show three judges their best performance. Performers ranged in ages from teens to adults.
Owner of the El Sombrero Rosa Paiz says "Mexican American we figured we're in the United States so we should do everything the American way. We just trying to bring in some business to the town and this is what's the economy is down for everybody so what else to do and bring the people together."

All but 5 people were eliminated from the competition.
Next weekend you can catch the final performances next Sunday in City Park at the band shell.
it will coincide with the Cinco de Mayo celebration.
