Local Grocer Give Check To Twin Falls Animal Shelter

Finances are getting tough at the Twin Falls Animal Shelter. But one area business brought a little bit of relief in the form of a check.

Smith's Of Twin Falls gave $2,317 to the shelter this morning. Shelter Director Debbie Blackwood says that a sour economy leads to people making financial sacrifices, and sometimes the family pet is the victim.

And with all the extra animals-it can cost as much as eighty dollars to care for each animal, which takes a chunk out of its already limited budget.

Blackwood said, “What a great timing-what great timing because our animal population has already gone up this year by 545 animals.”

According to Blackwood, the shelter's biggest needs are donations; help with a food drive, animal adoptions, and the push to curtail an already-expanded animal population
