Jerome Co. residents to vote on new County Jail

Jerome County residents will vote on whether or not to allow the commissioners to enter a 30 year lease to build a new Jerome County Jail.

The proposed 30 to 40 thousand square foot 165 bed jail facility would not increase taxes for tax payers, but would be paid for out of the operating budget already set aside for the current county jail.

A two thirds super majority vote will be needed to approve the lease.

Commissioner Joe Davidson says voters will need to cast their votes at all of their usual polling places.
