The College of Southern Idaho’s wind energy program just received a new tool.
The program showed off its newest wind turbine at Agri–Action.
Its called a vertical axis wind turbine un–like the conventional three blade turbine.
This one is designed to capture winds at a different level.
Dr. Ross Spackman, instructor at CSI says "Its designed to be a residential application accessing lower powered winds, lower velocity winds and we'll see how it works."
The plan is to erect the generator next to the large blade on the north campus.
The turbine will be among a collection of wind generators students will study.
