Idaho Power meets with local irrigators and commissioners on energy conservation

By Benito Baeza

Twin Falls, Idaho - Idaho Power officials met with Twin Falls County Commissioners Wednesday afternoon; company representatives including Vice President of Customer Operations, Warren Kline, spoke with county commissioners as part of a yearly update.

Spokesman Dan Olmstead says that Idaho Power encourages energy conservation, especially in the summer when the utility actually peaks.

Olmstead says, "Because then we don't have to go out and buy power from other utilities as much as we normally would, if we can shave those peaks as you will."

In fact, the company worked with irrigation customers Tuesday, to interrupt their service for a period of time; in turn, that saved nearly 250 megawatts from their system peak.
