North Side Canal Company preparing for the year
Thursday, customers for the North Side Canal Company in Jerome got a preview of what to expect for this year's irrigation season.
The company will be maintaining its canal banks so they don't erode, and so that irrigators will be able to travel on them with their trucks and tractors.
The canal company is also looking at building 'pump back' projects, so that no water is released back into the Snake River, which can be used to fill water rights.
North Side Canal Company Manager Ted Diehl said, “It looks a lot better. Not right now, it's dropped off a little, it's gonna be a lot better. Last two years been good water years.”
Diehl also says the Idaho Department of Water Resources board will have to figure out exactly how to pay for the comprehensive aquifer management plan.
