JEROME, ID (KMVT-TV) Lane restrictions and signal-timing changes at the junction of US 93 and Interstate 84 are spelling out big trouble for drivers.

Just last Tuesday, the Idaho Transportation Department started roadwork on this area.

Drivers on this road are normally zooming along at 60 miles per hour, but not today.. With roadwork up ahead.. Drivers are slowed way .. way down.

With roadwork leading to a big traffic problem, locals like Cindy Manning from Jerome are re-considering their options.

"I don't know if I'm going to want to do that. The inconvenience will decide what I do or not,” said Manning.

The traffic is piling up. That's because this two-lane road is turning into a one lane and it's leading to a big headache for drivers.

The ITD is urging drivers to use an alternate route. Signal timing will allow traffic to flow in one direction at a time. There will also be flaggers during the worst time of the day.

This five-point-two million dollar project to reconstruct and widen two miles of US 93 is expected to be completed in October.

While it may be worth it in the end, for drivers that end is nowhere in sight.
