A Walk Through History

The Albion State Normal School Is Full Of History As The School Was Built In 1893.
But Since The Late Fifties -- The Property Just Sat And Buildings Faced Decay.
However - The Property Saw Some Life Last Year As It Was Purchased At An Auction.
The College Of Southern Idaho Professor Russ Tremayne Who Has Family Ties To Albion -- Decided It Would Be Beneficial For The Community - The New Owners And His Students To Tour The Facility.
Tremayne Says, "The College We're Standing On The College Grounds Was Built Right After Idaho Became A State. Two Normal Colleges Were Teaching Teachers, One In Lewiston, One In Albion, The Fact They Decided To Build The Schools Says A Lot About What Was Going On In Albion In The 1890s."
The Students Toured Miller Hall Which Was Converted Into A Lodge With 16 Rooms And Opportunities For Family Reunions And Weekend Getaways.
They Also Divulged Their Minds In The Museum.
Churchman Says, "We Usually Don't Do That Much On The Weekend And I Thought We Needed To Go And See Some Things We Haven't Seen Before. I've Been Here 80 Years And Never Seen Albion."
Kent And Troy Mortenson Purchased The 35 Acre Property For At Little Over Eight Hundred Thousand Dollars.
Mortensen Says, "Most Of The Community Is Very Happy That We're Here And Saving A Historical Landmark Really Jumping In Towards And Trying To Work Towards Preserving History."
