Garbage Trail the Size of Texas in Ocean
Scientists in southern California say there is a huge pile of garbage floating in the Pacific Ocean.
Scientists with the Scripps Institution of Oceanography in San Diego say they found a pile of garage, about the size of Texas, floating in the ocean about one-thousand miles off the coast of California. The garbage patch is filled with mostly plastic, some pieces only the size of a thumbnail. Scientists say the ocean currents cause anything floating away from the west coast of North America or the east coast of Asia to end up in this particular location. When the group was at the location, they found debris with various languages, including English, Spanish, and Japanese. Comments ( |
