Icy roads cause fatal collision on eastbound I84 near Hazelton exit
A crash on I-84 today turned tragic as one man got out of a car on the side of the freeway after a collision, and was struck by another vehicle.
This happened eastbound at milepost 188 near the Hazelton exit.
22-year old Caleb Cornaby of Utah was driving his Toyota Corolla, when he lost control due to slick roads, and slid into the median.
His 22-year old passenger Dallin Briner of Meridian got out to help his friend dig the car out of the snow. However when this was happening, 22-year old David Newey of California lost control of his Toyota 4Runner, slid into the median, striking Briner and the Corolla....
The 4Runner then bounced back into traffic where it struck a vehicle driven by another Utah resident.
Officers on scene provided rescue breathing for Briner until EMS could get there, but he passed away due to his injuries sustained in the crash.
No other occupants were injured, and all were wearing their seatbelts.
