Murtaugh Highway District: area roads treacherous, asking residents to stay home

By Rachael Giffoni

The Murtaugh Highway District is declaring a state of emergency for their roads....and battling six to ten foot snowdrifts.

As of five o'clock Sunday night, at least 30 cars had spun out and about four to ten cars lined the roads every mile.

Officials tell us...the roads are impassable from Highway 30, east to the Cassia line.

They can't even get snow plows to clear the roads, because cars are stuck in the middle of them.

This began mid-last night, and has lasted all day, and they say, they're not expecting it to clear up anytime soon.

They are asking residents to just stay home and to put their Christmas shopping on hold.
