Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) Dirt is moving along the canyon rim in Twin Falls where many are anticipated a brand new shopping center.
Despite controversy surrounding the canyon park development project it was approved by the city council in June.
Get ready for more retail stores coming to the area.
Mountain West Real Estate is underway with the canyon park development.
Locals are excited for new shopping selections.
"There is not a lot going on in this town when it comes to shopping it will bring a lot more jobs and opportunities for the younger community” said Ali Malvini, excited for the shops.
"I think it will bring more jobs to the community, more shopping” said Jennifer Kudart, excited for shops.
"I think it's good for the economy and will bring a lot of people from other areas here” said Maria Castillo, excited for the shops.
Others disagree with new buildings going up along the canyon.
"It's kind of a concern, why do we need to crowd the area. Its precious space” said Wayne Skeem, against shops.
"Oh no people will enjoy it, I enjoy it, and it's not blocking the view and the same time I can do my shopping” said Maria Castillo, excited for the shops.
Kohls has signed a contract to move in but plans are still under review for an expected completion date.
The developer out of Salt Lake City tells us in two months they'll disclose which retailers are interested in moving in.
As of right now, the company is "filling" in the area where the mall will later by located.
Construction will officially begin March 2013.
