Some Facebook users keep rolling with unexpected changes
TWIN FALLS, ID (KMVT) In countless Twilight Zone episodes, the characters often have to deal with changes that suddenly happened overnight, and everybody except for them understands what the new rules are. Regular users say the Facebook online networking service makes it a point to change the rules on how to use it-without warning the users first.
Facebook user Matt Kelluy says, "Unexpectedly it's kind of inconvenient, because you're not ready for the change, and you don't know what to expect, or how to use the integrated technology." Fellow student Matthew McGregor says, "I don't really have frustrations, it's just different every time, and it's kind of funny most of the time for me. All these other people are complaining about it, and I just don't really care." Many Facebook users have concerns that their personal information is suddenly accessible to anyone at all. Companies use that information to target their advertisements, but that information could also be used to commit identity theft. R.D. Van Noy, Web Developer and Programmer at the College of Southern Idaho, says, "I think Facebook does a poor job of communicating changes that it's going to do or getting user feedback en masse. I think they just kind of spring it on people." Kelluy says even with all of Facebook's unannounced changes, he'll keep using the service as long as he can still communicate with his friends, especially those who are out of state. Kelluy says, "It makes using it a little bit more difficult, and I do it for the reliability, as well as it's easy to use when talking to your friends." MacGregor says, "It's a little harder to use on laptops. But on a desktop it's just as easy as it was, in my opinion, at least." Comments ( |
