Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) The Ag tour is hosted each year by the Twin Falls Chamber of Commerce Agribusiness Committee.

"Kind of a farm to the plate tour and it gives the consumers an idea of where their food comes from, how it's grown, how it's harvested and what all goes into getting food to the grocery store where the general consumer can buy it," said John Pitz with the Agribusiness Committee of the Twin Falls Chamber of Commerce.

This year the ag tour focused on a growing commodity group in the Gem State.

"It's the bean industry. We just finished a talk with Lacie Menasco, the executive director of the bean commission. And it's just amazing how much impact Idaho has on the bean industries throughout the U.S. and foreign countries," said Pitz.

This year's tour included presentations on Idaho beans, research demonstrations and stops at local farms to see bean harvesting in action.

The Agribusiness Committee hopes tour attendees have a better appreciation and understanding for Idaho agriculture.

"People need to know where there food comes from. Why it's so important to buy Idaho grown foods as well as being educated on the quality of any commodity produced here in Idaho," said Pitz.
