Chobani To Have Impacts On Local Dairy Community

By Brandon Redmond

Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) "Chobani has impacted the dairy community already even though they have not run one drop of milk," said Bob Naerebout of the Idaho Dairymen’s Association.

Local dairy producers are anxiously awaiting the opening of the Chobani Plant in Twin Falls. The plant's opening will have significant impacts on the dairy industry.

"They've had a huge impact on the dairy community and I'll say that because looking at a plant that's going to take that much more buying the milk, creates additional demand for your milk," said Bob Naerebout.

Local dairy farmers have mixed feelings about the Chobani Plant. But overall most think it will bring positive changes, particularly to their pocket books. Dairy farmers are already making changes ahead of Chobani's launch.

"Some of our major companies, processors in the State, in the valley have changed their pricing formulas to the benefit of the dairy producers to provide dollars to more income going in," said Bob Naerebout.

Chobani is hoping to process milk to make yogurt the first of the year.
