Net Metering On The Farm

By KMVT News

Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) One local energy company and Idaho Power have partnered up to help reduce your monthly bill on the farm.

We're taking a closer look in tonight's Grow Southern Idaho.

Solar Tek Solutions is a Twin Falls-based solar energy company.

For farmers, by installing solar panels on your property that connects to the power grid, you can produce energy credits that can be used during high usage times.

Adam Raimes is a sales representative from Solar Tek Solutions and explains how it works…

“We're able to generate credits onto the billing system on Idaho Power. Especially when these pumps are off, they build these big credits so when they turn the pumps back on in the spring, they're pulling from credits from they've generated. It's kind of the meaning of farming. So you're actually using electricity in the exact same way you're using it right now. You're just using the panel to offset your electric bill."
