Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) Agri–Action wrapped up last weekend in Twin Falls.
With more than 100 vendors and suppliers to browse from, new technology and techniques for farmers were on display.
In this week's segment of Grow Southern Idaho, Joey Martin for Idaho’s First News introduces us to a company looking to put the biology back in the soil.
"Our product stimulates and feeds the biology in the soil. Were all about building soil health and increasing availability of nutrients.”
Said Ryon Murray,BMZ Ag Solutions Representative.
Farmers around southern Idaho are some of the best in the world when it comes to crop management and irrigation advancement.
But a new product is giving local farmers another tool in dominating the ag world.
"All nutrients in the soil need to be broken down so that the plants can utilize them. So were stimulating and feeding that native biology so that farmers and soils have more populations of them to convert more of the fertilizers... more of the organic material and organic matter and humus."
According to Murray, the futility and availability is only as good as the biology in the soil.
During the farming process, farmers are removing a tremendous amount of the microbial food sources and the plant foods.
Those can be replaced with a good fertilizer resource.
However, also being removed is the organic matter.
This matter would naturally break down and become to food source for the microbial life.
That's where BMZ products help out.
"That's what we're trying to do with the product is put the food source for microbial life back into the soil to keep those populations at a high level and sustained and active."
With major advancements in the technological aspect of this process... The sky is the limit.
"This is the next step in the future of farming. Everybody does usually a good job of water management and fertility management and weed management and insect management... but the big component that still isn't being addressed at this time for most farmers is that biological component of what's going on below ground."
Increasing organic matter, improving nutrient availability and creating soil balance.
Monitoring all three and making your harvest the best yield yet.
