Fire Near Declo Has Burned About 500 Acres

Declo, Idaho - ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) - The Guinn Fire burning near Declo is currently estimated at 500 plus acres at this time. That according to the Bureau of Land Management. The fire was reported at 4:45 pm Sunday afternoon. The BLM said later today a helicopter will fly the perimeter of the fire and will use a GPS to determine the exact acreage. The fire is expected to be contained this afternoon at 6. Right now, the BLM has committed 5 engines, 2 dozers and a miscellaneous crew along with a helicopter and a air attack to fight the blaze. There are no structures threatened at this time.
The lightning caused fire is about 6 miles south of Declo. At one point, the Declo Rural Fire Department requested structure protection for a nearby ranch. The ranch had very good defensible space and the concern was from a dry wheat field.
