First Snow Falls In Wood River Area

By Paul Johnson

Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) - The first snow of the season hit the Wood River Region early this Wednesday morning.

Meteorologist Nick Kosir says, "Lookout Camera on Bald Mountain (9,000 ft.) is showing a coating of snow as of 10 am this morning. More snow is expected to fall throughout the day, overnight and into tomorrow morning."

A winter weather advisory has been issued through noon Thursday for areas above 6,000 ft where 5-10 inches are possible.

Snow levels will drop into Thursday morning with locations at around 5,000 ft. seeing between a coating and 3 inches of snowfall.

It will be breezy at times with sustained winds between 15-30 mph, especially across the Snake Plain and at upper elevations.

This will likely create some blowing snow which could temporarily reduce visibility in the mountains.

The snow cover will be short lived as temperatures will climb back into the 60s and 70s by the weekend.
