Rupert, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) - Fire has destroyed a repair shop owned by the A and B Irrigation district in Rupert. Dan Temple, the manager for the district said workers were using a cutting torch near the ceiling when some insulation caught on fire Monday afternoon. The Minidoka fire protection district say they were called to the scene at 700 North Meridian Street in Rupert at 3:45 pm. Fire crews from all three district stations who responded, believed they had completely doused the fire.

But at 4am this Tuesday morning, a passerby called the fire department reporting the shop was completely engulfed in flames. Officials say the 4000 square foot 80 x 25 structure was a complete loss. Temple said that the shop contained repair equipment and tools used to maintain the A and B Canal system. The canal company manager said that the fire will not affect water delivery this summer and they plan on rebuilding sometime this summer. The canal company has contacted their insurance company. Total loss value has not been determined.
