Accused Heyburn Murderer In Court

Minidoka, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) - A Heyburn man accused of murder was arraigned on Tuesday morning.

Christopher Cruz is currently being held at the Mini-Cassia Criminal Justice Center. While he was not physically in court, he was arraigned by video.

Cruz is charged with murder in the first degree of 36-year-old Craig Glen Short of Heyburn.

He’s also charged with the attempted murder of Jared McNeil. Both of these incidents happened on August 2.

The charges carry a maximum of life in prison. During the arraignment, Cruz requested a public defender.

His preliminary hearing is set for October 28 at 1:30 pm.
