A major economic development project is set to begin in twin falls.

Clif Bar & Company announced Thursday they will be expanding and building a new bakery.

All to meet the growing demand of the company's organic energy and nutrition bars.

90-million dollars that's how much it's going to cost Clif Bar & company to build a new bakery in Twin Falls.

the company plans to build a three-hundred thousand square foot facility.

"Clif bar is an incredibly vibrant company that is going to allow us to strive and inspire to realize the strategic plan and more importantly they are going to be a great quality of corporate citizens. This means additional jobs and additional investment,” said Travis Rothweiler, Twin Falls City Manager.

Initially, the plant will create up to 250 jobs.

However, the company plans to grow the plant's capacity over time, which may create up to 450 total jobs.

"It will help the job market a lot. As they go to work in these new plants and marketable products, they are going to learn a trade and learn a skill that is employable elsewhere,” said Governor Butch Otter.

Twin Falls city officials are looking to bring in companies that fit the city's profile, Clif Bar & Company did just that.

"We hope this is the continued and beginning of additional partnerships not only with Clif Bar but, also the beginning for opportunities on the horizon,” said Rothweiler.

A company based out of California and now expanding to the magic valley.

"The local folks who support this type of effort economic growth I say its magical. The Magic Valley has done its magic once again,” said Otter.

Another big business ready to start a future in Southern Idaho.

The bakery will be located south of Chobani near Hankins Road.

Construction is set to begin in 2015 and the bakery will begin operating in 2016.
