Castleford, Idaho (KMVT-TV) Bureau Of Land Management fire bosses are saying as of Tuesday afternoon, approximately 9% of the Kinyon Road fire is actively burning, toward the northwest corner of the Saylor Creek Training Range. Crews are working to suppress the fire on the northwest edge, to prevent the fire from spreading further into the Bruneau Canyon. Fire crews are also patrolling and mopping up the perimeter of the fire. This fire is currently estimated at 40% contained, and no control or containment times have been set. The Type II team has taken control of the fire, and approximately 275 – 300 people are working to contain this fire.
The Centennial Trail fire, ignited by lightning approximately 6 miles northwest of the Kinyon Road fire was contained at 10PM on July 9 at 88 acres and expected to be controlled this afternoon.
