Elmore County identify suspects in high speed chase and vehicle theft

MOUNTAIN HOME, IDAHO (KMVT-TV) The Elmore County Sheriff’s office has released the names of the two people they are looking for in connection with a high speed chase and vehicle theft that occurred over the weekend. It ended in King Hill, Idaho on February 4th, 2012. The Elmore County Sheriff’s Office say they are looking for Vernon Ray Johnson Jr. and Myranda Raeann York both of Walla Walla, Washington. Both subjects are wanted fugitives in Walla Walla, Washington and are now wanted in Idaho in connection to the pursuit and Grand Theft of the vehicle from King Hill. Police say Johnson is an escapee from Walla Walla Washington and is considered armed and dangerous. The sheriffs office is warning people not to approach Johnson but simply advise the police.

On February 4th, 2012, Elmore County Sheriff Deputy Greg Genz attempted to affect a traffic stop on a vehicle in Glenns Ferry. Johnson has been identified as the driver, Police say he failed to stop and a high speed pursuit ensued and ended when Johnson crashed the vehicle he was driving. Johnson and a female passenger identified as York ran from the scene. Within minutes after the pursuit ended, a King Hill resident reported to authorities that his truck was stolen. It is believed that Johnson and York stole the vehicle.

This truck from King Hill, Idaho was recovered in Nampa, Idaho on February 8th, 2012.

The search for these suspects has involved officers from Milton-Freewater P.D, Nampa P.D. and Elmore County Sheriff’s Office.
Vernon Ray Johnson Jr. is currently being sought by Milton-Freewater Police for a separate high speed pursuit and for several vehicle thefts in their jurisdiction. It is believed that Johnsons has shaved his head and beard to disguise his appearance from law enforcement.

It is believed that Johnson and York maybe traveling to Colorado or back to Oregon.
