Farm Bill Passes in House

By Alexa Tieu

Washington, D.C. ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) A big step made in congress could affect area farmers.

The House narrowly approved the Farm Bill... With a vote of 216 to 208.

House Republicans eliminated the food stamp part of the measure which changes the food program.

The move does *not* mean it eliminates food stamps.... But that the bill's focus is strictly on agriculture.

It's unlikely the Democratic–led Senate will go along with the house version of the bill.

They proposed a measure with smaller cuts to food stamps.
