Fire In Sawtooth National Forest Growing

Stanley, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) - The forest fire burning ten miles south of Stanley has grown in size over the past 24 hours. As of 8 am this Thursday morning the fire is at 80 acres burning lodgepole pine. The Gold fire was reported on Tuesday June 3. Assisting on the fire are 3 Helicopters, 3 Hotshot Crews, 6 Engines and 2 Water Tenders. Brian O’Donnell is the Incident Commander and Mike Krupski is the Incident Commander trainee.

According to O’Donnell “it is expected that we will contain this fire on June 6, 2014 at 6pm and control will be on June 9, 2014 at 6pm. “

The Sawtooth National Recreation Area has implemented a Road Closure for Forest Service Road 210 (Decker Flat). The Road is closed to all traffic due to fire activity.
