Halstead Fire Has Now Scorched 23,310 Acres

Northwest of Stanley, Idaho (KMVT-TV) Fire crews have made little progress in containing the Halstead Fire. The lightning caused fire has now consumed 23,310 acres.

Forest Service officials say fire growth was moderate on Saturday as it moved south into the Knapp Creek Drainage. Containment is now at 1%.

Firefighters will continue to construct indirect firelines from the Beaver/Marsh Creek area southeast to protect the Boy Scout Camp, private property and Cape Horn Guard Station along the Hwy 21 corridor. Additional crews will be working on structure protection around Loon Creek Guard Station and Diamond D Ranch.

The following resources are battling the fire: 375 personnel, including 8 hand crews, 11 engines and 3 helicopters.
