UPDATE 11:30 AM - The Idaho State Police have released information about one of the accidents reported along Highway 21. Authorities say the accident happened at 6:43 am, just before the Lucky Peak Dam Turn-off.

Richard Lovan, 36, of Boise was northbound on 21 in a 2003 Nissan Frontier.

Lovan struck a boulder in the north lane of travel. The vehicle drove over the boulder and came to rest in the middle of the highway. Lovan was wearing a seatbelt.

Lovan was transported by ground ambulance to St. Luke's Medical Center in downtown Boise.

Boise, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) - Highway 21 in the area of Lucky Peak was closed earlier this Wednesday morning due to a rock slide. The slide also contributed to a multiple vehicle accident according to Reed Hollinshead with the Idaho Transportation Department. For a time, the highway was closed at milepost 11. The ITD sent a snow plow to clear the road. The plow was later hit by a rock. According to the Idaho State Police, a driver of a pickup truck struck a boulder in the road causing another crash. Hollingshead said that another accident happened before 7 am when a car attempting to avoid rocks falling pulled into the path of another car. That collision sent at least one person to the hospital reports say.
Crews have been able to clear one lane of the highway. Hollinshed predicts the road will remain one lane at least through Thursday.
