Man Arrested For Soliciting Other Men On Craigslist To Sexually Assault Wife
Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) - A Twin Falls man is behind bars after police say he solicited men on Craigslist to sexually assault his own wife.
Police say 32-year old Justin Matthew Crawford admitted he was involved in two separate instances of men forcing their way into his home and attempting to assault his wife.
Police say they first responded to a disturbance at the Crawford residence around 2:00 a.m. on Friday, July 13th. That's when Crawford's wife told officers a man had came to her door earlier that day and asked for her name. When she told him, he came into the house and began to chase her. Crawford's wife then ran into a downstairs bedroom, grabbed a gun, and the two began to struggle.
Police say a shot was fired during the struggle, but it didn't hit her or the intruder. The wife says the man then took the gun from her and fled the home. She describes the intruder as being about 5'10" with a medium build and short black hair; both arms covered in tattoos.
Officers were dispatched to the couple's home again the following day after another report of a disturbance. When they arrived, they found Crawford's wife holding a different man at gunpoint. She told officers she had fired a shot, but again she and the intruder were uninjured.
The intruder later told officers he had broken into her house after responding to an ad on Craigslist. He said he thought the ad had been posted by a 32-year old female who wanted to be sexually assaulted as part of a "fantasy." The intruder told police the person who posted the ad listed Crawford and his wife's address.
Officers then examined electronic devices of the intruder, Crawford and his wife. They found evidence of the Craigslist posting on Crawford's phone, and that's when he admitted to using the website to ask men to break into his house, while his wife was home alone, and sexually assault her.
Crawford is now behind bars at the Twin Falls County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
He was arraigned in court on Monday, and his preliminary hearing has been set for July 27th.
