Two Twin Falls Schools In Lockdown due to Standoff in Area
TWIN FALLS, IDAHO (KMVT-TV) Effects of a custodial kidnapping were widespread.
Officials at Morningside Elementary placed the school on lockdown Wednesday afternoon following negotiations just blocks away.
Students who rode the bus home from school were sent home an hour early.
And students who live near Maurice Street were kept at school until normal dismissal time.
School Principal Steve Hoy said the District made the decision to ensure students' safety.
"The safety of the kids is top concern. Get them out of recess. We weren't in total lockdown with the kids under their desks, but the building was secured and no one came in or out without being checked into the office,” said Steve Hoy, Principal, Morningside Elementary.
Students at Bickel Elementary who live near Maurice Street were also kept at school pending the outcome of the situation.
