The City will hold a public forum beginning at 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21 at Vera C. O' Leary Middle School auditorium where applicants will be given the opportunity to make a 15-minute presentation to the Twin Falls City Council regarding their proposals to jump the canyon. Applicants will also be asked to stand for questions after their presentations.
The public is invited to attend the meeting and provide comment and feedback on proposals that have been submitted. A decision will not be made at the meeting and is intended only to gather information.
The City has received inquiries from several entities proposing a vehicle jump across the Snake River Canyon on or about Sept. 8, 2014—the 40th anniversary of the attempt made by Evel Knievel in 1974.
The City is willing to consider permitting the event, but only under conditions that will fully protect the public’s health and safety, and in a way that will protect the City’s ‘brand and image’ and maintain a positive marketing image for the area.
The request for qualifications was approved by the Twin Falls City Council to gather information for use in evaluating proposals, and it may be used as a basis for drafting a final contract with the successful applicant.
