UPDATE INFO: Power Outages Reported In Area Due To Wind
UPDATE: 4:15PM - About 3500 Idaho Power customers are in the dark at this hour. Officials say that is in the area of Gooding, Jerome, Mini-Cassia, Twin Falls and Hailey. All available crews are assigned and will be working into the night. The storm center will remain open through at least tonight to ensure efficient coordination and crew assignments. Once the wind goes away, better progress will be reached officials say.
UPDATE: As of 11:25 am, upwards to 3000 customers are without power. Officials at Idaho Power have activated the Storm Center where all resources will now be dispatched from.
UPDATE: As of 9:40 am, 2500 customers are without power, according to Idaho Power officials. The largest in Hagerman where about 1,800 customers are dark. Officials say there are lines down in Hazelton that is affecting parts of Jerome. There are outages still in Twin Falls, Paul, Hazelton, Jerome, and Rogerson. Idaho Power crews say the calls are coming in very fast. New outages are being reported every minute.
Southern Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) - Over 600 Idaho Power customers are without power this Monday morning thanks to a wind storm passing through the area. Lynette Berriochoa with the utility said 155 customers are affected in the Wendell and Hagerman area, 110 in Paul, 80 in the Ketchum and Warm Springs area, and 140 in Oakley. There are many scattered outages across the area as trees and branches continue to fall into the lines.
Crews were starting to get calls around 6:00 am when the gusts began and there was a large increase in the activity around 7:15 am.
A High Wind Warning is in effect for Western Magic Valley-Southern Twin Falls County till about 6 pm Monday. West winds are predicted to be 40 mph with gusts to 55 mph.
