Semi Truck Collides With Mini Van At Red Cap Corner Near Kimberly

UPDATE: Authorities say a northbound semi driven by Charles McDougal, 47 of Buhl, failed to yield at the intersection as he was making a left hand turn onto 3800 North. He struck a southbound Ford Freestar van driven by Joan Dixon, 81 of Kimberly. She and her passengers, Melvin Dixon 85 and Mary Keele, 90 all of Kimberly were taken to the St. Luke’s In Twin Falls with serious injuries. Melvin Dixon was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown into the front seat of the van. Extrication tools had to be used to open the van doors. The truck driver was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device. He escaped injury. Traffic at the intersection was detoured for about a hour and a half.

Kimberly, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) - If your travels include red cap corner near Kimberly this morning, you should consider an alternate route. Authorities are on the scene of an accident at that intersection that has involved a Semi Truck and a minivan. Three people are being treated for injuries. Authorities responded to the scene at about 10:37 am this morning. An extrication crew has been called to the scene. According to Lori Stewart, the injuries do not appear to be life threatening.
