Severe Thunderstorm Watches Issued For All Of Southern Idaho

UPDATE: The National Weather Service has now issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for the entire Magic Valley and all of Southern Idaho. The watch has been issued for the Twin Falls, Jerome and Gooding areas until 8:00 PM. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is also in effect for the Mini Cassia area and Wood River Valley until 11:00 PM.

Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for parts of Southern Idaho and the Magic Valley until 8:00 PM tonight.

The watch includes Gooding, Jerome, Twin Falls, Elko, Camas, Elmore and Owyhee Counties until 8:00 PM tonight. Damaging winds in excess of 60 mph and hail larger than the size of quarters is possible with any thunderstorms this afternoon and into this evening.

In addition to severe thunderstorms flash flooding is also possible across all of Southern Idaho. The National Weather Service tells us that rainfall rates of a half inch to an inch per hour are possible in the stronger storms. The heavy rain expected today combined with the rain that has fall over the past several days could lead to more flash flooding.
