Buhl, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) The Southern Idaho wildfire season is officially underway. This after two wildfires broke out in the last twenty-four hours.

The Bureau of Land Management was called to a wildfire six miles Northwest of Buhl Friday evening around 9:30. Five BLM engines along with the Castleford and Buhl fire departments battled the sinking canyon fire.

The blaze burned about three hundred and fifty acres. The fire was contained around 7:00 pm this evening. With hot and dry weather expected to continue, officials are concerned about the potential for more fire starts.

"We encourage everyone to enjoy the outdoors; we have a lot of great activities and recreation in Southern Idaho. But be extra careful, it's getting warmer and we just had our two fire starts that really started us off this season so we want people to be extra cautious. Vehicles are always a big concern, that's kind of a big human caused fire start. So just be cautious checking those things before you go out," said Kyli Gough, the Public Information Officer with the BLM.

Another fire broke out Saturday Afternoon northwest of Gooding near the McKinney butte. Two engines from BLM and the Bliss and Gooding fire departments are fighting that fire.
