Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) Despite taking a tour of the Snake River Canyon Jump Site this afternoon, the Twin Falls City Council tonight, in a surprise move, voted against the agreement with Beckley Media.

Some might see the Evel Knieval jump site as just a mound of dirt, but not Ed Beckley.

"It's been sitting here for 40 years, it's a pile of dirt, a road at some, we don't want to run any of it, there's a lot of history here. There is a reason why I'm here. There's history here, on December the 4th back in 2012, when I walked up that take-off ramp, I felt some icy fingers, it was Evel and he said go for it," Beckley added.

However, at the end of the day, the city halted that mission.

The City Council voted 5-2 against the lease agreement with Beckley Media at a public hearing Monday evening.

Twin Falls City Mayor Don Hall said, "Obviously there was a lot of deliberation. We had a lot of citizens come out which we so appreciate hearing their perspective and what they think we should do because we are here to represent them. But in the final analysis the final decision was that we were not going forward with the lease with Beckley Media."

Uncertainty remains if whether the council will move on to the second party or if there will be a jump at all.

Mayor Don Hall said he has asked the staff to bring to the table how they will move forward at next week’s City Council Meeting.
