Twin Falls Prosecutor To Review Officer Involved Shooting In Gooding
Gooding, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) - What started out as a car chase in Mountain Home around 2:30 am Sunday Morning ended with two people being critically injured following gunfire near Bliss a few minutes later.
It started in Mountain Home when police there stopped a car for no headlights. The driver drove off of the traffic stop eastbound on Interstate 84, proceeding without headlights. Gooding county deputies got involved stopping the car at the Y-Inn Motel in Bliss.
Authorities said the male passenger go out of the car with his hands in the air upon the deputies’ commands. The female driver, shot the man.
The driver then pointed the gun at law enforcement at which point a deputy shot the driver. The deputy has been placed on administrative leave.
Gooding County Sheriff Shaun Gough said Hollee R. Johnston 39, of Colorado Springs Colorado has been charged with aggravated battery and possession of Methamphetamine. She is charged with shooting Ronald Walter Rice, 40 also of Colorado Springs once in the abdomen. Gough said both are in critical condition at St. Alphonsus hospital in Boise.
The officer involved shooting portion of the case has been turned over to Twin Falls Prosecutor Grant Lobes. Now, Lobes said, he will be reviewing the case to determine if the officer violated any laws in discharging his weapon.
