UPDATED INFORMATION: More Fires Reported On Local Public Lands

Southern Idaho – (KMVT-TV) Today ushered in a few more fire starts on the Twin Falls District. The gusty and erratic winds brought about by the thunder storm cells this afternoon have contributed to increased fire behavior on both the Hotwell and Flat Top 2 fires. The most recent available fire information is listed below. Flat Top 2 Location – 8 miles NE of Kimama on BLM land Start Time – August 5th at 10:23 p.m. Size – 120,000 acres Cause – Lightning Resources – 14 Engines, 2 Water Tenders, 4 Dozers, West End Rural Fire Department, Minidoka Rural Fire Department, various aircraft working the fire Update – Due to rugged and inaccessible terrain, a burnout operation is ongoing and has been helpful to slow the spread of the fire. Contain – no containment time Control – no control time Hot Well Location – 6 miles SE of Declo on BLM land Start Time – August 5th at Midnight Size – 3000 acres Cause – Lightning Resources – 10 Engines, 1 Water Tender,1 dozer, Albion Rural Fire Department, North Cassia Rural Fire Department, Declo Rural Fire Department along with various aircraft. Update –Due to shifting winds, the fire continues to burn actively toward the southeast. Contain – no containment time Control – no control time Highway 30 Location –Near the Bliss rest stop and Highway 30, south of Interstate 84 Start Time –August 8, approximately 8:30 a.m. Size – 2000 acres Cause – Lightning Resources –8 Engines, 1 Dozer, 1 Water Tender, Bliss Rural Fire Department, various air support, Update – Fire continues to burn actively – no structures are currently threatened Contain – August 9, noon Control – August 9, evening South Three Creek Location – South of the Three Creek Highway Start Time –August 8, approximately 10:30 a.m. Size –11 acres Cause – Lightning Resources – 2 Engines, 1 Water Tender Update – Burning in brush and grass Contain – August 8, 18:00 Control – August 8, 21:00 Deadwood Location – NW of Three Creek Highway Start Time – August 8, approximately 10:30 a.m. Size – 20 acres Cause – Lightning Resources – 2 Engines Update – Burning in brush and grass Contain – no containment time Control – no control time Comments ( |
