Forest Service Reduces Closure For Kelley Fire
Fairfield, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) - The Fairfield Ranger District will reduce the closure for the Kelley Fire today. According to Julie Thomas with the Sawtooth National Forest, firefighters hard work, cooler temperatures and rainfall has changed the closure restrictions. Thomas said the public needs to remember to use extra caution when entering a burned area. While firefighters have worked hard to reduce snags, remove hot spots and have implemented water bars and resources that will reduce flooding and landslides there is still danger in the area. Forest visitors may continue to see smoke from burning logs and duff over the next several days. In addition firefighters are still working in the closed area and there will be continued activity as they secure the area. There will be Fire Engines on Forest Roads so we encourage visitors to the area to be vigilant while driving and give these large trucks plenty of space to get by.
