Department of Labor Aids Workers Affected by Fires at Wood River Valley Office

By Michelle Milliken

The Idaho Department of Labor’s Wood River Valley office is open to handle unemployment insurance benefit claims from local workers whose jobs have been halted due to area wildfires.

Claims for unemployment benefits are made on the internet and can be filed by workers who have been working less hours because the fires have greatly affected tourism. Workers are eligible if they have earned at least $1,872 during one of the four quarters starting in April 2012 and ending in March 2013 and at least $468 combined in the remaining quarters.

The Bellevue office, located at 733 N Main Street, Suite C, is open from 9 AM to 4 PM, Monday through Wednesday. The Twin Falls office is located at 420 Falls Avenue. Its hours are 9 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Thursday, and 9 AM to noon on Friday for workers who commute.

The offices will also aid in job searches and other services for workers.
