Blaine County, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) UPDATE: 8:00 pm - As the Beaver Creek Fire continues to burn the number of homes being evacuated has swelled to well over 2,000.

Over Friday night and into Saturday parts of the north–west end of Hailey were evacuated.

But by the early morning hours those evacuation orders were lifted and residents were able to go back to their homes.

On Saturday, the fire began burring in more of a northerly direction and mandatory evacuation orders were issued for a number of areas around northern Blaine County.

We spoke with Blaine County Sheriff Gene Remsey and asked him how his citizens are reacting to the orders.

"The majority of people are taking this very serious and they understand and evacuate. Of course you always have some people who stay... and I really hope that they would reconsider their decision to stay. It's not only themselves they're impacting... they're impacting emergency services and fire people. There's only so much information we can disseminate at one time but the people of this community have rallied behind the emergency services."
Said Blaine County Sheriff Gene Remsey
