Yosemite "Rim Fire" Caused By Illegal Blaze

By KMVT News

Northern California (CNN) - Authorities have identified the source of The "Rim" Fire -- which has burned more than 237 thousand acres in Northern California.

Investigators say a hunter's illegal campfire got out of control. And they say there's no indication the hunter was involved in any illegal marijuana growing, despite rumors to the contrary.

The hunter has been identified, but his name is being withheld pending further investigation. He has not been arrested.

The Rim Fire, which has burned into Yosemite National Park, is one of the largest wildfires in California's history.
