BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - A 28-year-old Boise woman has been arrested after police say she allowed children to live in unsafe conditions at an area home.

BPD says police and the Idaho State Department of Health and Welfare performed a welfare check at a home with four children. When officers entered the home, they say they found animal feces, piles of trash, and urine soaked floors throughout the residence.

Police also say Gypsie Akers, 28, left the children without supervision on more than one occasion.

Akers has been charged with felony injury to a child. The children were turned over to relatives.
