Fire Continues To Burn In Central Idaho Redfish Lake Area 70% Contained

Challis/Stanley, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) - While the fire near Redfish Lake called the 210 fire, continues to burn today, it’s now at 70-percent containment. That’s the word from Julie Thomas with the Sawtooth National Forest. With that bit of good news, the Type I fire team was canceled. With that much containment, that large of a team is not needed, Thomas said. So far, 230 acres have burned and there are 300 firefighters on the scene.
Meanwhile, the Lodge Pole fire continues to burn 10 miles west of Challis. So far it’s consumed 5000 acres with some active burning noted in the afternoon. It’s still listed at zero percent containment and there is no estimate as to when crews will gain control over that fire. They are still using heavy aerial support as the fire is burning in some rather rough terrain. So far no structures have burned but fire continues to threaten some ranches along Challis Creek Road. The mosquito campground remains closed today.
